Penang, Here I Come.
location ~ SZ Home
thought ~ Hokkien Mee, Char Koay Teow, laksa.. omg.. I lost 4kg after came to SZ, I think I am gonna gain it back real fast back in Penang.
I’ve expected things wouldn’t be so smooth for me in SZ.
I worried about the visa before came over.
I finally settled with double entry visa and came over, and started to worry about getting a job a month ago.
I got a job and started working, and I started to worry about my work permit application.
There are complicated procedures in the application and now it’s the bottle neck and apparently there is a bad lock in the process.
Basic documents, a certificate for good conduct, I have one, but it needs to be certified by China Embassy in home country, which is what I need to do. A permit from Labour Department for my company to hire a foreigner to work in the company, I got it after submitted a residential document that I obtained from local police station in the area which I am staying, my resume in chinese, photocopy of my passport, the visa page and the latest immigration record entering China, my education and profession certifications, a lot of letters from my company and a lot of forms that I’ve filled.
The next thing after obtaining the foreigner hiring permit is an interview with the police at district police station, which haven’t done because they required me to get a Z visa which is something like a working visa but only valid for certain period of time before converting to working permit.
In order to get a Z visa, I must leave the country to proceed for the document, they request for immigration exit record from China to process for a document as a Visa Notice for the Z visa application.
Here comes the lock.
1. Foreigner hiring permit, I must provide them the passport copy together with original passport for verification, original passport also mean I have to be physically there in China.
2. In order to get the Z visa, I must supply the foreigner hiring permit, and the Visa Notice, and I can’t get it in China, only in home country.
3. For the Visa Notice, I must present the original copy of foreigner hiring permit and I must not be in China because they need my last exit record.
In order to release the lock, I have to fly back to Malaysia to get some documents done, there is no way a foreigner can start working in China without first returning home country. I dig money out from my own pocket, buy an air ticket, everything is ready now and waiting for the departure date, but I think those government offices seriously need to start talking to each other.
I will be at home for around a month, it’s great to be able to have fun with my family again.
One thing that I feel grateful is the company allow me to work remotely from Malaysia, phew… at least the salary can cover my air fare.

I think building an Atomic Bomb is easier than getting a Z Visa. China-man are lame red-taped government donkeys.
