Walk, Stroll, Dawdle Day.
location ~ MAN’s home
thought ~ Legs in pain after much walking.
Last month, I was in HK, travelled alone to meet MAN. It was Thursday, MAN had to work, so I trekked through HK, and finally arrived at MAN’s serviced apartment. By myself, alone.
The flight touched down at around 11am, passed through the long queue at immigration, it was already near 12noon. Stepping out the arrival hall, I felt a bit peculiar for a while, and found the way to take a bus to nearest MTR station, I know there is airport express to take me to town, but it’s more expensive than MTR, and I have too much time to spend, MAN can only reach home after 6pm, I have 6 hours to loiter.
I took the left exit of HKIA to take the shuttle bus to nearest MRT, Tung Chung, luckily the balance left in my Octopus card was enough. Traveled in Tung Chung Line, I met a little 4 year-old kid left school for home, he was sketching the MTR map on his drawing board while his granny’s cross-questioning him on MTR route, a little kid like him able to give the direction from one station to another including switching lines. Smart kid. I alighted at Lai King for Tsuen Wan Line.
With only a bag slung over my shoulder, it’s easy to move around. Get off at Prince Edward station for train exchange to Kwun Tong Line for 2 stations and finally, stepped off at Kowloon Tong for East Rail Line that eventually brought me to Luo Hu, which is the border to ShenZhen. It’s not surprise to see everyone playing Nintendo DS, PSP when traveling in train, if not gaming device, there must be iPod. I was so out of place doing nothing but watching around in the train, partly because I didn’t want to miss my station.
After the immigration check point, another train ride to ShenZhen town, the metro in ShenZhen is pretty straight forward as it’s still expanding, there’s only 2 lines with a total of less than 20 stations. I stopped at Hua Qiang Lu for some shopping and a light tea in the mall, it’s rather miserable to eat alone and I honestly don’t like. By then, it was only 3:00pm.
I had to take a bus to reach MAN’s home, since I have plenty of time, I decided to take a different bus in stead of the one I used to take. I was waiting for the bus at a bus stand at secondary street, a lot of buses passing by, and I finally saw the one, I waived at the bus in disgrace but the bus just passed without slowing down, I wondered why. I was reluctant to walk to the main street to catch the usual bus and with a little hope, I continue to wait for another bus to arrive. After like.. 15mins, I stood there like a clown for the bloody 15mins and waived like crazy to the oncoming bus, but it again….vroomm… bye. I was a little angry and started to feel the weight of my sling bag, unwillingly, I walked to main street to catch to sardine-loaded bus, standing through the whole ride to MAN’s apartment.
And yeah.. I finally arrived. 4.30pm. I went to the saloon I regularly visit when I was there, paying RMB10 to get a refreshing hair wash and a little massage and another RMB10 for manicure. At last, MAN’s back. I gave him a hug and grumbling to him for the 2 insane drivers that never stopover. MAN told me the bus was right, there’s another bus stand 20 steps away from the one I was, that’s where it will stopover.
Oh.. No wonder.
